About us

Since 2013, the Brass Animals, have delighted audiences of all shapes and sizes at corporate events, weddings, private and special events, and sporting events all over the country. Our sound fuses the popular New Orleans-style brass band style with an eclectic blend of hip-hop, R&B, funk and pop. Typical performances include explosive renditions of recent favorites by artists like Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Aaliyah, Bad Bunny, and Janelle Monáe, as well as our own spin on vintage classics by Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Herbie Hancock, The Meters and more.

We’ve worked with the established companies and organizations like the Oakland Raiders, Google, Jack Daniels, Salesforce, the San Jose Earthquakes, St. Elmos Brewing Company, Genentech, and Marriott International. We’ve also performed for many engaged couples and newlyweds and have been recognized as a 2018 Couples Choice Award Winner by WeddingWire. If you’d like to read about our past clients’ experiences, please check out the dozens of raving reviews on our website, GigSalad, or GigMasters.

Our local troupes, which are currently located in California, Texas, Georgia, New York, and Illinois, are comprised of professional musicians who have decades of experience and have performed with one of our troupes multiple times. Please contact us today if you’re interested in a quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our performances range from 15 to 135 minutes of music. This typically translates to three 45-min sets. We can play up to 90-minutes before we need to take a break. So while we can break up the time in any way that you’d like, please keep that in mind. We strive to be flexible so that we can best accommodate your request. When you receive a quote from us the quote will include the amount of time that you’ve request we play plus the time for us to set up, do a sound check, and break down.

We will provide an ipod, free of charge, to play music during our breaks. If you would prefer to play your own playlist, then we ask that you please provide an ipod or iphone that we can plug into our PA. If the show is an acoustic performance, then we can work with you to either bring a PA for the breaks or use whatever audio equipment is available at your venue.

We request a 25% non-refundable deposit at the time of signature. If you notify us within 90 days that your event is being cancelled, then we will refund you the rest of your balance.

Absolutely. We can send you a list of all of our songs and have you choose everything or we can recommend a set list, based on what we know about your event, and let you make changes based off of that. However, if you don’t want to have to worry about this, then we can put together a fantastic set list that you and your guests will definitely enjoy.

Yes. Your special requests are usually included in our agreement so that we know ahead of time how we can accomodate your requests. Common special requests include learning a specific song, dressing in a specific way, bringing someone onto the stage to give them a special performance. We’ve also been asked to have a special entrance, bring extra musicians and singers, and provide handkerchiefs and/or percussion instruments for second line parades. Our goal is to make sure that everyone has an amazing time. So we are down for almost anything.

Absolutely! We’re happy to travel anywhere someone  is willing to hire us to perform (especially if your event is in Hawaii). When we perform for clients outside of California (and sometimes in California, depending on the location), we include travel and lodging expenses to our quotes. We do our best to find the best prices for flights, car rentals and hotels so that the additional cost is manageable.
